San Francisco Chronicle Recommendation
July 25, 2005

During a vacation touring northwest Washington, we stayed at the new bed and breakfast - the Bear's Lair in Gig Harbor. Although it was only minutes from downtown, it was in a pristine forest with 5 acres of beautiful grounds that include a duck pond with an island gazebo.

The timber-frame home with handcrafted woodwork has three quiet rooms with private baths. The innkeepers, Jen and Giulio Santori, were friendly, and the time there was the highlight of our trip.

Rooms in the main house are $85 to $125 per night, including a great breakfast. The Carriage House, with one bedroom and a Murphy Bed, fireplace and kitchen, rents for $185 per night.
